Wednesday, 23 February 2011 17:03

In 2005, the North Eastern Cultural UNESCO Club was founded in Quang Ninh and Hai Duong with the acceptance and patronage of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations. Initially, the small membership comprised artists, jounalists, teachers, businessmen, activists and ordinary citizens who were united by their love of national cultural values and the UNESCO ideal. Despite the difficulty created by the unfamiliarity of UNESCO to locals , these founding members forged ahead. Three years later, the Club was awarded commendations by the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations and the local authorities.
