  1. Creation of the Federation of UNESCO Clubs in the Philippines

Clubs_Accreditation_Ceremony_-_Planning_SessionOn 15 December 2010, eight (8) organizations from all over the Philippines were accredited by the UNESCO National Commission (NatCom) of the Philippines following the issuance of new guidelines for accreditation. After the accreditation ceremony, the UNESCO Clubs proceeded with a planning session and decided to establish the Philippine Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations (PFUCCA). The organizations elected amongst themselves the interim officials of the Federation for the posts of President, Vice Presidents for Internal and External, Secretary-General, Treasurer and Public Relations Officer. Further, PFUCCA discussed its plans in crafting its Constitution and By-Laws, accreditation with AFUCA and WFUCA, a capacity-building workshop for the Federation members and a Fun Run for Environment in celebration of the 2011 International Year of Forests.

Prior to the accreditation of the 8 organizations, Lyceum UNESCO Club was the first organization to be accredited in November 2010 by the UNESCO NatCom after the new guidelines were issued. Three (3) more organizations were later accredited in February and March 2011. PFUCCA was recently renamed to the National Federation of UNESCO Clubs in the Philippines (NFUCP).

  1. UNESCO Clubs National Immersion and Training for Empowerment (UNITE)

Clubs_Accreditation_CeremonyThe Province of Aurora hosted the UNESCO Clubs National Immersion and Training for Empowerment or UNITE on 17-19 February 2011 in Baler, Aurora. Themed “Strengthening UNESCO Clubs in Pursuit of the UN Millennium Development Goals,” the workshop provided a venue for officers and members of accredited UNESCO Clubs in the country to come together, share and process their experiences as a UNESCO Club, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and enhance leadership skills, techniques and strategies in the pursuit of the UN Millennium Development Goals.

The Federation further formulated and deliberated its Constitution for endorsement to the UNESCO NatCom. Nine (9) members of the Board of Trustees (BOT) were likewise elected by the Federation members. The Strategic Planning session also mapped out the year-long programs and activities of the Committees on Membership and Accreditation, Resource Generation, Education and Training, Publications and Special Projects. Federation members likewise took part in the Anniversary Celebration of Aurora Province through cultural festivities and community immersion.
