Conference of UNESCO Clubs on both shores of the Mediterranean:
"The role of UNESCO Clubs in facing the challenges of the contemporary world"

Background
Following the 8th· Conference of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs held in Vietnam in August 2011 and the Youth Forum of UNESCO held in Paris in October 2011 that focused their recommendations on promoting the role of youth in the evolution of societies and achieving sustainable development,
Within the framework of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014)
Based on the UNESCO program for the Euro-Arab dialogue, and in order to gather young people from both shores of the Mediterranean and to meet the many challenges and problems of the Mediterranean region,
the Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Beirut, is organizing a conference of UNESCO Clubs on both shores of the Mediterranean around the theme "The UNESCO clubs in facing the challenges of the contemporary world".
Objectives

The conference aims to:
- Define the problems and challenges faced by youth
- Present the initiatives and actions of the clubs to meet the challenges and address the problems
- Strengthen cooperation and exchange of experiences between UNESCO Clubs of the Mediterranean
- Promote the dialogue between cultures and highlight the similarities between the two shores of the Mediterranean
- Develop a joint action plan

- Presidents and members of UNESCO Clubs from the following countries:
European countries: Cyprus (2), France (2), Greece (2) Italy (2)
Arab countries: Egypt·· (2), Palestine (2), Tunisia (2), Lebanon (20)
- An expert from UNESCO and a Lebanese personality from France (2)
- Rotaract Clubs of Lebanon
- Governors of Rotary Clubs from outside Lebanon
- Universities
- Members of Anna Lindh euro- mediterranean foundation for dialogue between cultures
- NGO’s active in the themes of the conference
