18th May every year is observed as International Museum Day. The International Council of Museums (ICOM) established International Museum Day in 1977 to increase public awareness of the role of museums in the development of society. For the year 2013, the theme of the International Museum Day was Museums (memory + creativity)= Social change.
Confederation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations of India (CUCAI) together with the Museum Branch and Delhi Circle of Archeological Survey of India (ASI) observed the International Museum Day 2013 at Swtantrata Sangram Sangrahalaya,(Freedom Fighter’s Museum) at Red Fort Complex, Delhi (AUNESCO World Heritage site). There are four Museums inside the Red Fort Complex. Drawing/Painting and Quiz contests were organized for students of schools in Delhi and NCR. Officials of ASI addressed the children and explained to them the importance of Museums in Cultural Heritage. Prizes were given to the winners of contests. Participation Certificates gifts and snacks were provided to all participants.
